When you’re working on your home you hope everything will go well — you want all the pieces to fit, all the parts to be available to you immediately, and all the tools for the job at your disposal. You don’t want to have any issues with screws, nails, the wrong set of hand drivers or power tools, or to have forgotten to get that attachment before you climbed a flight of stairs or a ladder.

But, unfortunately, whether you’re working on your home, your automobile, or any other project, that’s just not how it goes.
Things will go wrong, that’s basically the rule. You’ll get undersized screws, or the custom screws and matching custom fasteners you ordered will turn out to be the wrong size or shape or make, and that’ll set you back days or weeks. You’ll have to buy a new part, new materials, or new tools and attachments.
Home improvement, or any type of hand work, is a mess if you’re not prepared. That’s why you need to be meticulous when you start a project. And you need to make sure you’re choosing the right screw and have all the right parts before you begin.
Make Sure You Have the Right Screws and Fasteners for the Job
Certain screws are designed for certain purposes. SEMS screws are extremely adaptable, with the fastener permanently attached to the screw, making it an excellent choice for small projects. You don’t need to worry about small components, and they come in many shapes and sizes, so you can push aside the worry for undersized screws if you measure correctly.
Micro screws and micro fasteners are designed for exactly that, micro projects. They have many custom options, including SEMS, so you don’t have to worry about losing components.
A third type of screw to keep in mind when you’re beginning a project is the Hi-lo screw. They have a reduced minor diameter and displace less plastic material, which minimizes stress. That makes them perfect for working with delicate parts or technology.
Hi-lo screws have a double lead high and low thread, with the high thread being a 30 degree thread form. This means a further reduction in material displacement and less stress on what you’re working on. Less stress means less chance of cracking or breaking whatever it is you’re working on, an important detail if you’re working on expensive or fragile materials.
We can’t help you manage personal stress, but if you’re trying to reduce long-term stress on your fasteners and components, we have a variety of custom fasteners for your next project.
